Self-Care for Mental Health Workshop!

This workshop is designed to help youth (and their teachers, counsellors, and youth workers) learn how to take care of their mental health through simple actions, experiences, and lifestyle choices.

In this 60 to a 90-minute workshop, we will explore what mental health is, how we can feel when we are in poor mental health, what it means to have boundaries, how we can practice self-care, and what self-care is and what it is not. Our workshop is specifically tailored to teens ages 14 to 19 years old, in grades 7 to 12, and is ideal for youth sports programs, sports camps, school teams, and other groups of young people.

Our workshop is more than just a lecture on mental health; it is a lively and interactive experience that invites participants to engage with the topic and each other. We use a variety of activities and exercises to help participants learn about mental health in a fun and engaging way.

The Weighted-Down exercise is a powerful way to help individuals understand how life challenges and experiences can impact their mental health and well-being. In this exercise, a bag represents our mental health and well-being, and the rocks we add to it symbolize the challenges, pressures, and experiences that can weigh us down.

Participants will engage in a meaningful discussion about what can negatively impact our mental health and well-being and brainstorm actions to support our mental health. The exercise ends with an important reminder that we may not be able to avoid life's challenges, but we can learn strategies to support our mental health and lighten the load when needed.

This exercise is an interactive and engaging way to start a conversation about mental health and can be tailored to any group, whether in-person or online. Book now to have this exercise included in your workshop or event.

Our overarching goal is to promote a positive and hopeful outlook on mental health and well-being and to provide practical tools and strategies for improving mental health.
